4 Pots and a Bunsen Burner

Pick three, according to Randi Zuckerberg: family, career, friends, fitness, sleep. Pick three and concentrate on those and you can be kick ass at them.

I like this theory.

You have three pots for your attention. Put in what you want to focus your energy, emotion, and talents on: family, career, fitness — put those pots on the oven and start cooking.

My question, though, is what do you do with the other things? What happens to them? Are they in the freezer, waiting to be thawed out? In the fridge in the leftover containers? Maybe in the fruit basket, away from the bananas that make everything ripen too quickly!

Right now, I think I have four pots on the stove, simmering, three or four pots on hot plates scattered around the kitchen, and one sauce pot cooking over a Bunsen burner.

I understand the concept of not spreading yourself too thin, focus your efforts and energy so that you can keep your cup full to overflowing and then fill others from there. I get it.

I just don’t know how to make that work in reality.

No answers here, just questions.
